CASE STUDY

CLIENT: Tomy’s The First Years Frank and Hope 2015 Campaign

tomy1Tomy International, Inc. partnered with Cates Collaborative to build a new advertising and marketing campaign for “The First Years,” their infant product division. Unlike typical advertising in this category, The First Years sought to build a community around young parents by showing what life with children is really like. Instead of peaceful, serene images of mom and baby showered in a halo of light, we addressed lack of sleep, awkward breast pump scenarios, puke stained shirts, and lots of poop talk. You know, parenting.

tomy3Our original characters, Frank and Hope, interact with millennial consumers where they live: Online, in social media, and through product demo videos that balance insightful humor with effective branding. They also introduced the campaign to the Tomy Corporate Team with a live, in-character performance.

tomy2The “Meet Frank & Hope” video has over 400,000 views since launching in early February 2015. The videos are featured on the product websites for Target, Toys R Us, Walmart, and Amazon. The ongoing social media content implementation can be seen here on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Frank and Hope’s blog page.

We filmed 40 videos during 8 days of video production in partnership with Pink Hippo Productions, a video production company in Chicago. Post-production provided by 200 Stories Tall, still photography provided by Rockit Projects.
